Lipstick Review: Girl About Town

MAC Girl About Town lipstick

I have been building up to try more out there pinks. While I was in MAC innocently picking up a new foundation to replace one that had finished (see I do use things up!) I somehow ended up by the lipsticks.

Girl About Town has been on my wishlist for some time now. I decided to bite the bullet and just buy it. It is now my favourite lipstick and it gets alot of queries on nights out because it's so fabulous!

MAC Haul

brown thomas

I let myself make 2 trips to MAC last month. I was well behaved the first day, however my second trip went slightly out of hand! My nearest MAC counter is located in Brown Thomas. I adore the shopping bags from BTs.

Liebster Awards

I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Kelly from MonPetitBlog. I have been blogging for a year but nothing serious. This is a hobby and I know I sometimes lack in the post department! I'm delighted that my little has been noticed by someone!

The Liebster Award is passed between bloggers (like a chain letter I guess) with less than 1000 followers, although sometimes I read 200 followers. I don't think it matters though!

Liebster means dearest, beloved from my research. These Liesbter Awards are a great way to find new blogs and promote your favourite blogs.

The questions I was given to answer:
1. Fashion or beauty
Beauty. I'm clueless when it comes to fashion. At least with beauty I know what I can and cannot wear!

2. What is your all time favorite brand?
Benefit. I don't know what it is but I go weak at their counter and need to buy everything.

3. What’s the best thing that happened for you this year?
Got myself a job, made new friends and booked a trip to London. All connected to each other.

4. Who do you spend the most time with?
My friends. They get me!

5. Your favorite type of music?
I listen to most types of music as you can see from my Music of the Week posts on here.

6. Where have you travelled to?
Turkey, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Scotland, Wales and England. I have been outside of Europe. I want to go Las Vegas, New York, Texas, LA, Australia, South Africa and Cancun. Anyone want to volunteer to fund this!?
7. Texting or phoning?
Texting and I'm not even the best at that! I prefer talking face to face.

8. If you could pick 1 thing to do tomorrow what would it be?
Travel!
9. And who would you take with you?
My bestie. She's as mad as I am so we'd have no problems going new places.

10. Favorite accent?
Um, I have never had a favourite accent. Maybe the north one. Tommy Bowe's accent. Yummy!
11. Favorite blog and why?
Yikes! I have so many.
There are loads more I love though.

Random Facts:
1. I used to play the piano and I want to go back taking lessons again.
2. No one at home knows about my blog.
3. I have a fear of birds. They are frightening!
4. I'm a fan of both The Wanted and One Direction. Apparently you're not allowed to be. Meh!
5. I love candles. Black Cherry is my favourite.
6. I enjoy trying new food and flavours.
7. I'm the girl who cries at movies in the cinema. Can't contain my emotions!
8. I have a weakness for shoes and handbags.
9. My nephew and nieces mean more than the world to me. I will do anything for them.
10. I turned 25 three weeks ago and I still can't believe I'm 25!
11. I want to get a better camera to take a million more photos of my family.

My questions to you:
1. What's on your bucket list?
2. What is your favourite meal?
3. If you could live anywhere, where would that be?
4. Who is your favourite actor/actress?
5. What's your favourite quote?
6. Where in the world would you like to live?
7. What has been your favourite fashion trend?
8. To you, what has been the best beauty product released?
9. What inspired you to start blogging?
10. What's you favourite song/band?
11. What is your favourite scent?

I nominate:

If you do a blog post on the Liebster Award, please comment below with the link :)

The rules of the Liebster Award.
If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:

1. Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
2. Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
3. Answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.
4. Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
5. Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
6. Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.
7. List these rules in your post. (You can copy and paste them from here.)
Once you have written your post, and published it, you then have to:
8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)
I would like to add that you can nominate someone who already has been given this award, as long as they have less than 1000 followers/subscribers. The idea behind this award is to recognize new bloggers and help promote them! The benefit is that you get from doing this is that you get some promotion, too!

Tan Review: Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan

I'm not an avid fake tanner by any means but when I do use it I know what I like. I don't want a smelly, orange tan that takes about 12 hours to develop. Who has that kinda time to prep so far in advance!?

I am the skin tone translucent. I am so pale I am see through!

Cocoa Brown is the brain child of Irish beautician Marissa Carter. I can't thank her enough for bringing this fantabulous tan into life.

Real Techniques: Stippling Brush Review

Back in January with my first wages, I splashed out on the Real Techniques Stippling Brush. I had been eyeing it up for a while and I feel this is well worth the investment. I haven't used any other foundation brush since.

Real techniques Stippling Brush Makeup

Designed by Samantha Chapman a professional makeup artist and vlogger. (You can visit Pixiwoo for tutorials or the Real Techniques website.) The RT collection of brushes come in a coloured coded system, so you can create a flawless finish with the gold handle brushes, enhance your eyes with the purple handle brushes and achieve the perfect base with the pink handle brushes. The brush names are also on the handle which is handy! The brushes are made with taklon synthetic bristles which mean they are cruelty free.

Review: Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine - Grapefruit

I am loving this shade of Barry's M Gelly Hi-Shine nail polish. It a vibrant hot pink, perfect for this glorious sunny weather we are having. I could not stop looking at this when I first put it on. The finish is glossy and shiny. Love shiny things!

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Polish Grapefruit
Grapefruit

It has a quick drying time. Less than 10 minutes I'd say which is perfect for me and my impatience! Also only one coat is needed as well as no top coat. Happy days!

It started to chip on day 2 for me but I don't mind as I tend to change up my nail polish fairly quickly. Or just take it off as it doesn't last 2 mins at work :(

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Polish Grapefruit

I have a 2 more of these Gelly polishes to review. I must say I wasn't impressed when I first used it but I gave it time and I now love the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine collection of nail polishes. I was tempted to pick up Lychee however my head told me not to after reading a few disappointing reviews on it's drying time and consistency. If this has changed do please let me know as I would love to try it.

I well definitely be picking up some more of these nail polishes in the future. Any recommendations?

Midweek Blues Lightened: Summer Time

Hey everyone!

Hope ye are all enjoying the fantastic weather out there. Summer has arrived, unfortunately for those doing exams. It has happened to everyone before you. The sun always appears at this time of year! Best of luck to any of my readers doing exams. You'll be grand!

Sorry I haven't been posting lately. Hit a bout of Bloggers Block and this week I'm struck down with illness. Been to the doctor though so I should be right as rain soon :)

This song has been stuck in my head since the glorious weather decided to grace us with it's presence this week. Aslo I think we are all on a Fresh Prince high lately!

Enjoy! x

River Island Wishlist and Handbags & Purses Collection

I am obsessed with the handbags and purses River Island have to offer. Currently I possess 3 handbags and 2 purses of theirs, I have probably drooled (not literally of course!) over hundreds of them! I buy them for my friends on their birthdays or Christmas (did I just say that word!) and they are always loved. They have bags of all shapes, sizes and colours. You will find what you desire in this shop.

Midweek Blues Lightened: Gold Forever

This Wednesday I introduce to you all a song from this band The Wanted you might have heard me mention once or twice... The song is 2 years old but it will still gets a smile out of me :) It was the official Comic Relief single in 2011. And it is easily one of my favourites from them.
Band member Max George explained the meaning of the song: "This song is about a day in your life that you never forget. It's an upbeat, feel-good track" from Wikipedia
The video is a good laugh as well. They don't take themselves too seriously! As you can all judge for yourselves here.

I also had to give in and post their new video for Walks Like Rihanna. They are taking the piss yet again! Can't wait to see them this summer. Gonna be a well deserved laugh and a pick me up because this 'summer' so far is bringing us all down! Yikes!

Enjoy! x

Nail Art: Polka Dot Time

Quick nail of the day from me today! I decided to put some polka dots over my Essie Watermelon polish. I recently spoke of my interest in nail art so I thought I should start off easy!

Lipstick Review: Catrice Ultimate Colour 210

First thing I love about this lipstick is the packaging. The tidy, black glossy look makes its so sleek and sexy. It snaps shut with a clicky sound so you know for sure it's closed. My mother always loses the lids for lipsticks. I don't think she listens for the clicky sound!

I have branched out to pink lipsticks. Adventurous! I'm getting there with my lipstick collection :)

Collective Haul

Hello beautiful people! How are you all on this morning that belongs to Thursday!?

First things first, this is from the last 3 months. This is not all from the one shopping trip! Imagine my bank balance if I did this damage all in one go. Minus, Minus, Minus! Thank god for 3 for 2's, sales and advantage cards is all I can say! I think I forgot to include a few things but how as ever. Here's the madness!

From Clinque to Catrice and everything in between seems to be here! I have started reviewing some of the stuff. I am very bad with reviewing, great at buying though!

Review: Tangle Teezer

You know when you read so much about something and you think to yourself 'this will never live up to the hype'. This is how I felt about the Tangle Teezer. I am glad to say I was mistaken :)

Don't get me wrong, I knew the Tangle Teezer would be good I just didn't realise how good!

I love mine and can't believe how easy it is to brush my hair now. My hair is thick and long, I have spent years and years battling with my hair (I even had to get it thinned a few times!). I love having long hair and I could never imagine cutting it. I needed a solution.

Midweek Blues Lightened: A Song For Europe

"JUST PLAY THE FECKING NOTE!"

I saw this episode of Father Ted a few weeks ago and it still manages to get me into knots from laughter! I have never met anyone who doesn't like Ted, Dougal & Co. or this song. It gets a great laugh out of everyone and I have sung it once or twice while merry ;)

Sing Along!
My lovely, lovely, lovely horse

My lovely horse, running through the field
Where are you going with your fetlocks blowing in the wind?
I want to shower you with sugar lumps
and ride you over fences
Polish your hooves every single day
and bring you to the horse dentist

My lovely, lovely, lovely horse

My lovely horse, you're a pony no more
Running around with the man on your back
Like a train in the night, yeah
Like a train in the night

Also, Happy 1st Day of May. I can't believe it, this means I have been in my job nearly 4 months. Holy cow, where has the time gone!

My first Essie polish!!

I finally achieved my goal of owning an Essie nail polish! I was strolling (I love to stroll) through Shaws yesterday and out of the corner of my eye I spied the Essie stand. I turned a very abruptly 90 degrees towards the stand. So abruptly that even another shopper turned to see what had got me so excited. She too spent ages and ages picking out polishes. Sooo many colours and they are all arranged by shade. Heaven!

Yes! It really is Essie!

Got Something From My Wishlist!!

I finally went and did it. I got me some Lady Gaga Fame after months and months of wishing and hoping and and thinking and praying. I was roaming around Boots with no intention of buying anything, as one does (LIES!) ahem! I strolled over to the perfume section wondering if they had any beauts on sale.

I had been in Sam McCauley's a few months prior and noticed that the 100ml of Fame had been on sale. I had to resist temptation that day due to the fact I went completely bananas in Boots and Debenhams already that day, I had to rein in it somehow!

And so to my delight I spotted Lady Gaga hiding down in the corner of display. I thought I would check out to see if my luck was in and Fame 100ml was on sale again. Indeed it was! Reduced from €74.95 to the affordable €49.96, a saving of €24.99. I snapped up the last bottle and gave myself a boost that only shopping knows how to give. I had to leave before I ended up at any of the make up counters; Benefit, Clinique, Lancome, so dangerous!

My perfume collection is slowly returning to a collection now. I finished so many of them around the one time, it's strange not having so many to choose from. I have 3 fantastic scents at the moment. I have already reviewed Marc Jacobs DOT if you fancy checking it out. I should get to review another during the week. It was a present from my brother, a wonderful surprise from him, all I wanted was Toblerone haha

Have you snapped up anything from your wishlist lately? Or have you spotted any bargains or sale items?

Beautiful Things #2

Do I speak for everyone when I say we all crave this dress? I love teal, it's the colour I chose to wear to my brother's wedding. In the back of my mind I am wondering was I inspired by the Duchess and her choice of dress here.

Kate Middleton Green, Teal Dress Jenny Packham

I was won over straight away when I first laid my eyes on this beauty. First it was the colour and the shape that I loved, flattering. Until I spotted the details, oh the details! The chiffon, the lace, the capped sleeves. It also shimmered. And most importantly, the back of the dress. Magnificent! The buttons down the back also. Oh la la Catherine!

Back of Kate Middleton Green, Teal Dress by Jenny Packham

I dream about this dress. It's a wonderful creation. Jenny Packham is a genius. I adore and yearn for many of her designs. In my head I'm going to win the lotto and with that I shall be the proud owner of a Jenny Packham design ;) It might always be a dream but a girl's gotta have her dreams! Xx

Midweek Blues Lightened

It's been nearly 2 weeks since Ant & Dec graced us with the reappearance of PJ & Duncan on Saturday Night Takeaway. I can honestly say every time I watch this I get a huge grin on my face. And I was absolutely delighted to hear it went to number 1 on iTunes in the UK. Tune! I love 90s music.

They haven't changed a bit

Anyway here they are to cheer us up on this Wednesday, even though it's only a 4 day week, Bank Holiday's are tiring! Here it is in all it's glory!! Enjoy!

Hope this has cheered up or given you a midweek boost. And if it you still need a  little giggle, just check this out...

Only in the 90s

Share The Love #2

The second of my 'regular' feature on posts I've enjoyed reading this week.

I am loving the Gelly Nail Polishes from Barry M. Maria over at Maria Sparkle has shared the beautiful shade Dragon Fruit.

This is something I am seriously considering Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. Review from Ellie at Ellie's Ramblings.

Love these photos from Nuala of her cat photobombing her blog pics, Blog Outtakes.

LOOK AT WHAT The Sunday Girl posted about. Holy Smokes!! Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil Vault. This is CRAY CRAY!! A thing of dreams.

Here's post I love about food of course! Becky from Milk Bubble Tea made some Gooey Caramel Brownies. They look to die for!

I got a little mention here because I was Abby's 20th follower. Check her out :)

Love this look from the Theodora Palette over on Blog of Shadows. I'm always in awe of the girl's talents!

That's a couple of the posts I've been loving over the last while x

Beautiful Things #1

I have watched every single episode of Gossip Girl and for the life of me, this is the only dress I can properly remember! I remember others of course it's just I fell in love with it this the instant I saw it. It's from Season 4 Episode 8 - Juilet Doesn't Live Here Anymore.

This dress is designed by Zuhair Murad. Just google him, his dresses are stunning! They take my breath away.

I envy Blake Lively, I think she's beautiful. When I was blonde, her hair was what I wanted. But of course that was never going to happen! Even as a brunette, I still want her hair! It's amazing.

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that there will be no more Gossip Girl. *sob* So for the moment I'm just going to torture myself by looking back over the fabulous fashion it gave us.

Midweek Blues Lightened

Wednesday's always kill me. I am always wrecked when I get to the middle of the week. Does any one else feel like that? It's always an earlier than normal night for me. I can't fight the sleep! So to help this week's midweek blues, let's just take a moment and enjoy a Diet Coke ;)

Hello there Andrew!

Ummm...

Glorious!

Probably a bit cheeky but hopefully you see it as being lighthearted!! x

The Professor is engaged.

Aw, a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Professor Green and Millie Mackintosh on their engagement. She announced it this evening on Twitter, with a link to a photo of the gorgeous ring on Instagram. I'm still annoyed about the Twitter/Instagram fallout by the way.

Professor Green is a rapper and Millie stars (right word?) in Made In Chelsea. I don't watch the show but she doesn't seem like a typical reality star (annoying). You must likely would have heard his song 'Read All About It' which featured Emeli Sande. That song was everywhere in 2011. And just typing that I can't believe that was that long ago!

Robbie & Adele to collaborate!!!

Apparently, these 2 amazing people are going to record a duet together. I think this will be amazing. Can't wait!

She has previously spoken about singing with Robbie when asked if she would ever do a duet. He was her number one choice.
'If I could do one with anyone - Robbie? Any day.'
Indeed! Great taste. I love Robbie and I'll be seeing him for the second ever this June. Eeek!

The rumour mill is suggesting their collab will feature on Rob's (I can call him Rob, we're cool like that !) next swing album. I adored Swing When You're Winning. Mr. Bojangles being my favourite number.

It has been suggested that they will record it later this year. They are both very busy these days due to both of them becoming first time parents last year. Nawh! Fingers crossed that this comes to fruition.

Nail Polish Collection March 2013

I don't know what it is about nail polish but I just never seem to have enough. Every time Boots has 3 for 2, a nail polish always has to be bought! Barry M and Rimmel are my favourite brands although NYC is fast becoming a new favourite. I am so far having a hit and miss relationship with Model's Own, I really want to like it so I'm gonna keep trying until it's right! There a couple of nail polishes here I want to share my views on with you, I feel a couple of reviews on the horizon! I better get cracking! I know I don't have as much as other nail bloggers but I am quite impressed with my own collection. To be honest though, I only ever seem to wear purples, golds, and browns. I need to make use of the other colours I have available to me. There's plenty there!

Some brands I really wanna try are butterLondon, OPI, Ciate and China Glaze. I keep seeing bloggers raving about them. I need to get my hands on them! I'm also dying to try nail art out. It kinda scares me a bit! Does anyone have hints or tips on nail art? Leave a comment below or some links to posts you've written on nail art. I'd love to read them! :)

Lipstick Review: Rimmel - Sugar Plum

Hello! Today I'm posting about Rimmel's Sugar Plum lipstick. I bought this because I was looking for a purple toned lipstick and I wasn't sure how it was going to suit me so I felt this would be the perfect shade to start out with.

Share The Love: Posts I've Enjoyed.

I hope to make this a regular feature. I posted a few weeks ago here a blog post where you could leave your blog links and others might find them of interest or you would find blogs that interest you. It doesn't seem to have ignited interest in any of you so I have decided to share some posts with you that I have found to be interesting. I got the idea for this from Karen at Lovely Girlie Bits who blogs about her 5 favourite posts from the week. My favourites here could actually be from any time of the year from a blog really!

I love sharing the love and I do retweet blogs and posts on Twitter a good bit. Or I like to think I do anyways! I am going to try and give shout outs. I enjoy interacting with other bloggers about the beauty or non-beauty parts of our lives. I want to connect with others and make friends. That sounds like a load of cheese but it's the truth. Right I am done babbling, I am actually going to blame the painkillers I am on at the moment of writing this for that spiel! :)

Here are the posts I have enjoyed this week.

Review: Nails Inc - Elizabeth Street

This is one of the Nails Inc polish that came with Glamour all those months ago. Yes I'm a little bit slow but I'm sure you've noticed that ;) This shade is Elizabeth Street. It's a pale pink, reminds me of a Barbie-type pink, or a candy pink. Maybe pastel is the word I am looking for? Anyways, it's a beautiful, soft colour that works great if you are going for the understated look.

Review: Marc Jacobs DOT

I have never owned a Marc Jacobs perfume before. When I received this gift I think I might have squealed! I love the packaging and presentation of this. The bottle is out of this world cute and so fun to look at. I'm a fan of polka dots, as is Marc Jacobs :) The bottle is adorned by some ladybirds/butterflies and a pearl. The red, black and gold colours compliment each other beautifully.

Review: Model's Own Golden Peach & Snowflakes

Two of the polishes from my recent haul. Golden Peach and Snowflakes from Model's Own. My photos here are of one coat of Golden Peach. It's a peach colour with a golden shimmer, I tried my best to capture the shimmer. I don't know if I managed it atall!I like this colour, it makes my nails look longer. They have been getting shorter and shorter recently due to breakage from work. *sob*
